Tensile Strength of intact rock (ASTM D3967)
Tensile strength test is used for determination of the tensile strength of intact rock core specimens subjected to uniaxial compression. Test specimens shall be prepared under the ASTM D4543 standard to determine the dimensions and shape of the sample to be tested. Tensile strength of rock is used to represent the ground conditions including various combinations of compressive and tensile stress fields occurring in nature.
